OLS adheres to the New York State Core Curriculum. This serves as a baseline for the more rigorous academic and spiritual learning required by the Archdiocese of New York through its Essential Learnings curriculum.
In addition to the core academic subjects of English/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, OLS offers a comprehensive program aimed at educating the whole child. This is accomplished through a fine arts program that includes art and music instruction, physical education classes, foreign language classes as well as the Archdiocese Religion Curriculum. Catholic teachings are integrated into all subject areas reinforcing the notion that our faith is at the core of all we do. The ultimate goal is to provide a solid academic foundation while instilling moral and spiritual values.

In addition to class exams, our students also are evaluated by a variety of standardized tests that measure academic growth over a period of time. Our faculty uses these test results to measure retention and to identify areas for student improvement.
Our Lady of Sorrows School students’ test results consistently exceed the state, local and Archdiocese averages.
